Trading from Oman
The rial is one of the strongest currencies in the world and pegged to the dollar, so funding a USD trading account from Oman is about as simple as currency conversion gets.
Starting out, honestly
Most people opening a first account should start on a Standard account with the smallest position size the platform allows. Not because the other account types are worse, but because the difference between them is a cost structure that only matters once you know your monthly volume.
There is also a Cent account, where balances are shown in cents so positions are around a hundred times smaller in real terms. It exists for exactly this stage: trading real money at a size where mistakes cost very little. The psychological gap between demo and live is genuine, and this is the cheapest way across it.
A demo account is free and does not expire, but it will not prepare you for the feeling of risking your own money. Nothing does except a small live position.
The rial and your account
The Omani rial is pegged to the dollar at a fixed rate. Because trading accounts are denominated in USD, conversion in and out is a constant rather than a variable.
In floating-currency countries traders can lose money on the round trip purely from the exchange rate moving between deposit and withdrawal. That risk is essentially absent here.
What to trade, and what to be careful with
Gold is the most traded instrument on our book and the one most people already understand. Be aware that it moves 20 to 40 dollars an ounce on an active day, and a standard lot is 100 ounces — so a single lot can swing thousands of dollars in a session. Most accounts under $1,000 should be trading micro lots in gold, not standard ones.
Currency pairs move less violently and are a gentler place to learn position sizing.
Energy and indices carry lower maximum leverage at 1:100 precisely because their daily percentage moves are larger.
Islamic accounts
Swap-free is available on request on any account type and removes the overnight financing charge. Spread and, on a Zero account, per-lot commission still apply — those are payment for a service rather than interest.
The status is applied to your individual account, not granted by tier, so confirm it is active on your account number before holding a position overnight.
Common questions
Can I trade forex from Oman?
Yes. Accounts are opened online, denominated in USD, with Arabic and English support.
What is the minimum deposit?
$100 for a first deposit on a Standard or Cent account. Later deposits have a $10 minimum.
Does the rial peg affect me?
Barely. The rial is pegged to the dollar and accounts are in USD, so conversion is effectively fixed.
Which account should I start with?
Standard for most people. Cent if you want real money at a very small size while you learn, since balances are shown in cents.
Are Islamic accounts available?
Yes, on request, on any account type. It removes overnight financing; spread and commission remain.
How much does gold move?
Typically 20 to 40 dollars an ounce on an active day. A standard lot is 100 ounces, so that is a swing of thousands of dollars on one lot.
