Choosing what to trade
The specification decides how much a position actually moves, and it varies far more than people expect. A standard lot of gold is 100 ounces; of EURUSD, 100,000 units; of an index, a single contract. The same lot size means completely different money in each.
That is why the number to check before your first trade in a new market is the point value, not the spread. Each page below gives it, with a worked example.
