Forex trading from Egypt

Most Egyptians who open a trading account are not chasing a fortune. They are trying to hold value in something that is not the pound โ€” and that motive deserves a straight answer rather than a sales pitch.

Wanting dollar exposure is reasonable. Leverage is not the way to get it

The Egyptian pound has lost a great deal of value against the dollar in recent years, and the instinct to hold something harder is rational. A trading account here is denominated in US dollars, so the balance itself is dollar exposure.

But be clear with yourself about which thing you are doing. Holding a dollar balance is one decision. Trading leveraged CFDs with that balance is a completely different one, and it can lose the dollars you were trying to protect far faster than the pound ever fell. People who conflate the two are the ones who get hurt.

If your goal is simply to hold value, the account balance already does that and you do not need to place a single trade. If you want to trade, size it as risk capital โ€” money you can lose entirely without it changing your life.

Holding dollars and trading dollars are two different decisions. Do not let the first one talk you into the second.

How funding works from Egypt

Credit and debit cards work and credit instantly from $10. International bank transfer takes one to three business days with a $100 minimum. USDT on TRC-20 settles in about five minutes and does not depend on a banking relationship.

Withdrawals return to the method you deposited from, paid in your own name โ€” never to a third party. Plan for that: fund from the route you actually want to be paid back through, because that is where your money will land.

Gold, and what one lot really moves

Gold is the instrument most new traders in the region reach for, and the mechanics deserve stating plainly. XAUUSD is priced in dollars per ounce and a standard lot is 100 ounces, so a $10 move in the gold price is $1,000 on a single lot. Gold routinely travels $20 to $40 in a day.

That is not a beginner-sized instrument at standard volume. A Cent account trades the same market at a hundredth of the position size, which is the sensible way to learn what it feels like with real money at stake.

Which route you fund with decides your exchange rate

Your trading account is denominated in US dollars, but the money starts as pounds, and the conversion happens somewhere. Where it happens is worth a moment's thought because it is a real cost, not a rounding error.

Funding by card means your own bank performs the conversion, at its rate, plus whatever it charges for a foreign-currency transaction. You will usually see the final figure only on the statement afterwards. An international transfer works the same way, with the bank's rate and its fees.

USDT on TRC-20 moves a dollar-denominated value directly and does not involve a bank conversion at all โ€” which is why a large share of regional clients use it. What it does involve is buying the USDT in the first place, and that has its own rate. Neither route is free; the difference is who sets the rate and whether you see it before or after.

Whatever you choose, the amount credited to your trading account is shown in dollars before you confirm, so the number you agree to is the number you get.

Holding dollars and trading dollars are different decisions

The page says this above and it is worth making concrete, because the gap between the two is where most first accounts are lost.

Say you move $1,000 into an account. If you place no trades, you hold $1,000 of dollar exposure, and its value in pounds moves with the exchange rate. That is the savings decision, and it is complete โ€” no trade required.

Now open a single standard lot of gold with that same $1,000. A $10 move in gold, which happens most days, is $1,000 on that position. The savings motive and the trading position have nothing in common except the balance they share.

Common questions

Can I hold dollars in a trading account from Egypt?

Yes โ€” accounts are denominated in US dollars. Bear in mind that holding a dollar balance and trading leveraged products with it are different decisions carrying very different risks.

How do I deposit from Egypt?

Card credits instantly from $10, bank transfer takes one to three business days from $100, and USDT on TRC-20 takes about five minutes.

Is TNFX regulated in Egypt?

No. TNFX Ltd is licensed by the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles under SD133. You remain responsible for any rules that apply to you locally.

What is the minimum to start?

$100 on a Standard account, or a Cent account to trade the same markets at a hundredth of the position size. The demo account is free and needs no sign-up.

Is USDT better than a card for funding from Egypt?

It avoids a bank conversion, which is why many clients here prefer it. But you still buy the USDT at some rate, so compare the whole round trip rather than one leg of it.

Can I just hold dollars without trading?

Yes. A funded account holds dollars whether or not you place a trade. The exposure exists from the moment the deposit credits.

What rate will my bank use for a card deposit?

Your bank's rate, plus any foreign-transaction charge it applies. We show the dollar amount credited to your account before you confirm; the pound figure is between you and your bank.
