Forex trading in Baghdad

Baghdad is where most of our Iraqi clients trade from, which means the practical problems — funding an account, getting paid out, reaching someone who speaks your language — are the ones we have solved most often.

Funding an account from the capital

Almost everyone in Baghdad already holds a wallet that works here, so getting money in is rarely the hard part. Knowing which of them can also pay you back is.

Ovadot, Ptop, USDT on TRC-20, local bank transfer, FastPay and Payeer all work in both directions — money in, and money back out again. The minimum withdrawal is $50 on every one of them.

Q-Card and Zain Cash are deposit routes only. They pay in quickly and cannot pay out, so if you fund through either, your withdrawal is paid through one of the two-way routes above, in your own name. Direct card funding and international bank wire are not available in Iraq at all.

Verification is done once, and the sensible time is the day you open the account rather than the day you want your money. Payouts are always made to the account holder — never to a third party, which is what stops anyone who gets into your account from redirecting the funds.

Trading hours that suit a Baghdad day

Baghdad sits three hours ahead of London in winter and two in summer. The consequence is that the busiest and cheapest part of the trading day — when London and New York are open together — falls in your late afternoon and evening rather than overnight.

That is a real structural advantage. A trader in Baghdad can hold a normal job and still be at the screen for the deepest liquidity of the day, which is not true for traders in East Asia or the Americas.

What Baghdad clients actually trade

Gold is overwhelmingly the most traded instrument among our Baghdad clients, and by a wide margin over everything else. That is not surprising in a city where gold has been the default store of value for generations — XAUUSD is a familiar asset in an unfamiliar wrapper.

After gold, activity spreads across the major currency pairs and the US indices, with EURUSD and the Dow the most common. Oil gets steady interest too, tracking the news cycle more than any technical pattern.

If you are starting out, the concentration in gold is worth a warning: gold moves in dollars per ounce and a standard lot is 100 ounces, so a $10 move is $1,000 on one lot. It is not a beginner-friendly instrument at standard size, which is what the Cent account is for.

Power cuts and an open position

Baghdad's structural advantage is that the London–New York overlap, the deepest and cheapest part of the trading day, lands in your late afternoon and evening. Its structural nuisance is that those are also the hours when mains power is least dependable and the generator gap is most likely to catch you mid-position.

The fix is not a better internet package, it is understanding where your orders live. A stop loss attached to a position sits on our server, not on your phone — it works whether your device is on, off or halfway through a reboot. A mental stop does not. Neither does a decision you were planning to make when you saw the price.

So before the evening session: put the stop in, not in your head. If you run anything automated, host it rather than leaving it on a laptop at home — a robot that cannot reach the market is worse than no robot, because you believe a position is being managed when it is not.

A stop on the server survives a power cut. A stop in your head does not.

Common questions

Can I trade forex legally from Baghdad?

Yes. Iraq does not prohibit individuals from trading forex, and it also does not license brokers — which is why the broker's foreign licence matters. TNFX Ltd holds FSA Seychelles licence SD133, which you can verify on the regulator's own register.

How do I deposit from Baghdad?

Ovadot, Ptop, USDT, local bank transfer, FastPay and Payeer all work in both directions. Q-Card and Zain Cash are deposit-only — fast going in, but your payout comes back through a two-way route. Cards and international wire are not available in Iraq.

Do you have an office in Baghdad?

We operate online rather than through branches, with support in Arabic by chat, WhatsApp and phone. That is how deposits clear in minutes rather than requiring a visit.

What is the minimum to start from Baghdad?

$100 on a Standard account. A Cent account lets you start smaller with the same markets at a hundredth of the position size, and the demo account is free and needs no sign-up.
